A Picturesque European Adventure: Camping by Van Across the Continent

Camping by van is a wonderful way to travel through Europe, allowing you to experience the beauty of the continent's countryside and cities at your own pace. With a well-marked map and a reliable vehicle, you can drive all day and then pull into a picturesque campground when you're tired, feeling like you've finally arrived home. In our case, we spent three weeks traveling through Europe in a van, and it was an incredible adventure.

We started our journey by picking up the Rhine River in Germany and following it through Switzerland, stopping in Basel and Geneva along the way. From there, we made our way into Austria via the Dolomite Alps, where we spent a few nights in Innsbruck before heading to Munich for Oktoberfest. We then continued on to Salzburg and Vienna, exploring the beautiful cities and countryside of Eastern Europe.

One of the best things about camping by van is that you don't have to worry about packing and unpacking all your gear every time you move. You can just drive to a new location and set up camp for the night, knowing that everything you need is right there with you. And when you're tired from a long day of driving, it's nice to be able to pull into a campground with amenities like restaurants, bars, and swimming pools.

Of course, there are also some challenges to consider when camping by van in Europe. For one thing, many campgrounds are not listed in traditional guidebooks, so you may need to do some extra research to find out where they are located. Additionally, some countries require visas for entry, which can add an extra layer of complexity to your trip planning.

Despite these challenges, we found that camping by van was a great way to experience the beauty and diversity of Europe. We were able to drive through picturesque countryside and small towns, stopping whenever we wanted to explore or take in the views. And when we arrived at a new campground each night, we felt like we had finally arrived home.
